DIY

just a hint of things to come

Another home improvement project best left to the pros, of course, that only means we will tackle it. As usual, I recommend this type of project to all my friends, just for the fun of it. The careful layout and intricate cuts was mostly due to the fact that this tile was discontinued and no longer available. I have one antique beige tile left over.

Odd location for the toilet, no? A little too public....

what better place is there for a throne?

Placing it there cuts down on the time folks spend hogging the bathroom. Also, since folks are less likely to use it, it cuts down on the toilet scrubbing time too. As a matter of fact, they haven't had to clean it again since they moved it to this location!

All they really have to do now is pull that one out of the bathroom and cover over that sewer line hole in the floor.

On the other hand, folks are wearing a path out back to the river now!

*grin*

this is the one from the bathroom, we've been keeping our legs crossed a lot.

One tile left over? Now that's planning!

that's tightwad desperation. if you could see my measly scraps, from the concrete board, to the tile, to the grout, i would earn a medal.

not nearly so much as you. your kitchen makeover makes me look like a little boy, not to mention the backyard landscaping/deck project.
knowing that pictures don't do justice, i would love to see it in person.

I appreciate the kudos, little bro, but your work is very nice. You're doing a great job. I like the way you mixed the colors.

wow. someone put a real shine on that floor! it sure does dress up yr bathroom abt a 1000%. amazing what a difference a beautiful tile floor job really makes in a small space. i'm still impressed everytime i take a look at yr pics!

you're right abt charle's work too. his cabinetry work has always been superb and he really outdid himself on that kitchen makeover. it's beautiful. oh yea, the deck too. all very nice.

well, i'm hoping that the marble adds a substantial amount of appraisal value. it's such a small space that ceramic tile couldn't have raised it that much without doing the walls and upgrade counter top too.

it LOOKS like marble, but i thought my eyes were deceiving me! it's really gorgeous and i think you made a great decision going with marble. bet kay is proud of it too! must feel nice after all these years to realize your labor is going into something you can call yr own. i'm so glad you guys got that place. it looks better and better all the time.

i still think of mama telling you you have a nice place. she is so amazing sometimes. she's getting used to her relief caregiver and today she asked me if i was going to have to go home today. lol. i told her no, i was staying with her today. she sd, "my darling darling darling darling daughter. stay me." :)

i read recently that upgrading your bathroom is the best investment you can make. if i recall correctly it was the only home upgrade job that got more than 100% return in increased home value. the numbers are probably higher for a good quality DIY!

you are right, you know. here is my math: http://tejasmidget.multiply.com/photos/photo/124/38 not only did i want to do a two or three tone pattern, i had to. the amount of tile that i had dictated the style & size of the cuts :) turns out, it was enough. i've been studying this particular project for a year now, and it finally came around.

trusty ol' ledger pad and pencil! add to that a head for a little good geometry and math and what do you get? one tile to spare! :)
