bath do-do over

we seem to be having a bit of difficulty coming up with a color scheme that suits us. probably due to not buying any new paint and trying to make do with unused paints we have left over. you might even see a rusty paint can lid or two. told ya i've been planning this a while.

i am pondering a subtle marbling effect on the tileboard until i get around to installing real tile, if ever (i could use some expertise with this). this project has cost a grand total of $224.65 so far, not bad for this kind of upgrade.

love it love it!! Love that SHINE!

the tile or the paint? that tile is a lot of work. these are not store bought pieces, it's all hand cut on a wet saw from 12"x12" tiles.

looks like the project coordinator is really giving the job a close inspection!

lol. and i thought she was inspecting closely on the other pic!

the whole bath looks nice. beautiful!

i've seen them fake those raised panels on hg using trim and scrap lumber and/or decorative wood pieces. dunno if that is a lesser expensive and viable route for you.

very nice!

I love the shine/glass look on your tile. I love the color you chose as well for the paint. All looks so so nice! Y'all have such a beautiful place inside and out.

the color picked us. it was left overs from an abandoned project of trying to duplicate a wallpaper pattern. the wallboard on the bottom is painted with two different paints that i mixed up as an afterthought when the bright white wallboard looked like a big bright white band around the room. i could have easily been influenced by anyone dropping by with some helpful suggestions, but nobody did. i started on the baseboard, then jumped to the top, now, i feel like the darker top color and the wallboard color should be reversed with the lighter color going next to the white ceiling because as you rightly said, the darker colors make the room look smaller. i don't mind repainting except the "custom" blend is more work to reproduce, especially if i'm wrong.

p.s. this looks pink on my computer. it's not. it is beige, (with pink hues). remember this is my barbershop...not a beauty parlor.

I was thinking more along the lines of one of you girls coming over and actually getting your hands dirty in the paint with me to self create a veiny marbled look on the wallboard. I could give you a couple of sandwiches and a glass of milk.....thats less expensive for me. :o)

oh! you were talking about the door. yep, i am thinking about doing that too.

lol. okay. i need to come saturday then when hazel has mama so we don't have to worry abt keeping up with her. then, i'll have to bring her back to visit when we aren't projecting. tell me what time is best. hazel is here all day, 7 AM until 8 PM ... as long as she doesn't take the day off. if she does, then i'll have mama and projecting and keeping up with her is probably a bit much to expect! *grin*

sunday she was drowsy almost all day. the nurse sd it's allergies that is keeping her eyes watering and her lungs congested esp in the mornings. so, got a new scrip today fm the dr's office. will try her on it if her eyes are red and caked over in the morning again. otherwise, she has been perky and happy.

she's been praying a lot thru the day, "oh jesus, jesus, jesus" like she used to all the time. hazel told her today in response, "oh you're a nice lady, praying to jesus all the time." mama raised her hands and shouted, "praise the lord! praise you jesus! praise the lord!" she was so loud, she startled hazel, who sd, "oh, she musta been a praying woman in her time!" i told her was mama ever! but it's nice having mama into her old habits more and more. just thought you guys would want to read abt that. :)

10ish sounds early enough for me. I was thinking about Mama today too while working in the eola's kitchen, and singing that song that i've only heard from Daddy..."I found the dress you threw away". I don't know if he made it up or what.I was thinking that Mama hasn't heard that one in a while and I would sing it to her next time we have a moment or two.

good idea on singing her the song. funny how we've all managed to take on so many traits and behaviors of mama's and daddy's. the other day i was sewing with lydia watching over my shoulder. i told her, i don't know what i'm doing, i'm just going thru the motions i saw mama do so many times. seems to work. in the moment, i had just realized my hands, my motions, everything was mama. so like her. every movement. last time i saw adrian, he reached for my hands and held one while he rubbed the top/back of the other. "You have my mama's hands." he told me. I looked. I hadn't realized, I told him. So we compared, as mama was with us. We all agreed, my hands look exactly like hers. So, watching my hands at the task of sewing, replicating her movements, the way she tugged at the fabric, turned the wheel, i sort of startled myself seeing mama there at the machine, when all the while it was me. yep, be nice for you to sing her the song. dunno if daddy made it up either. never heard it anywhere else....
