in the link to the other thread you should see a pickup truck parked under this tree
The Mississippi river indicator stood at 56.9 feet & falling today as I came through and was predicted to crest and finally began to fall. He is foreman here but works as hard as anyone, I should show him how to be lazy. They also have another facility that is operating at another port on the other (high) side of the river. Darrell says that they are deliberately posting the lower levels to keep people from worrying as he watched it rise another 4 inches today. hmm...
For comparison, there are earlier pictures here:

I was trying to capture the water going around this bldg, this is not backwater, this is the river going through here. The current is strong and pretty scary sounding too! The two boys in Lotus pictures had to be very naive trying to swim in this. There were fish jumping, that part was pretty cool!

and tops of trees too, i see. man, the water is high!
what are they doing on the job now that everything is under or almost under water? trying to keep the place from floating away? securing tie lines? lotta water!
Hopefully, lime is good for the river. Seems the big pile of lime is washed away.
as jack and i traveled home over the natchez bridge late last night the waters were in the parking areas and upon the side walk right up to the front doors of the buildings on the vadalia side of the river. it looked very scary as it seemed if someone walked out the door and lost there foot-hold they would go right out into the waters. not sure how this hazard is working out for the people working in those buildings but God bless anyone not wearing a life jacket in this turbulent river. with its constant whirlpools i don't see that helping in every case. it's a dangerous river without the extra flooding and currents.
