We are nearly through with phase 1 of our kitchen overhaul. Kay did almost all of the painting and is quite proud of her work. A second coat of paint on some of the trim, recessed can lights, and some under cabinet lighting will complete this round.
A little trim set those cabinets off big time! `LOVING how the cornice over the sink turned out! Love the 2 tone molding against the ceiling_ never woulda thought of it.
Everything looks really nice. I like it a lot, and have to agree with Lydia on all of it. The two-tone crown mold gets maximum points, and the added 3-D with the trim on the doors adds a lot of character, too. Good choice of colors, great craftsmanship, and an apparently talented painter. I can hardly wait to see the accent lighting go in, too.
Craftsmanship isn't too shabby, no :) Much indecision and do over goes into this phase: Catching my breath and moving on toward a custom vent-a-hood similar to the one you built.
There's always 3 steps forward and 2 backward. It's still forward progress, though. Can't see anything that looks spurious. All well thought out. You really like the custom stove vent. And good help goes a long way.
Is there more going on with this project? You've proven adept with your work, and impressive with implementing the scheme without totally breaking the bank. How about the hood? I'd like to see some photos of that. You showed us a drawing, but told us you'd not be doing it like that. We are waiting on you to surprise us. Ask Kay if you can post photos of it now.
Ha, ha. It's not like that here. As you know, there are a multitude of little steps involved to complete a project like hole filling, drawer and cabinet cleaning out and inside paint. I've still got two mouse holes to fill and fix and like to get through before moving on. Cabinets and hood building will start this weekend, in the meantime, I just finished the electrical wiring required for the accent lights, I picked up the recessed fixtures for the ceiling which I hope to install/wire tomorrow night and the next, maybe. Meantime, I've added a picture of where we are today.
The top is dimmable line voltage halogen for cuteness sake, the bottom is low voltage on/off xenon for task lighting. And I shouldn't forget to mention that Kay altered the curtains to go with the roman shade Lydia made for us. They look pink in the picture but are actually gold.
Every little bit makes a large impression. The changes are all positive. You'll really enjoy the recessed lights when they're in. I guess I'll have to be patient for the hood install.

did you put a different edging on the counter top? It looks white where I think it used to be silver metal?

I love the narrow shelf above the window, not only for the scroll but for its practicality. Not too much wood sticking out.

I'd have to take a picture of the box :) I picked up a discontinued $180 high end Broan for 80 bucks. Couldn't pass it up.
