orthopedist visit today, he was not as kind as kailani, prescribed contrast baths twice a day and elevation to reduce swelling. contrast baths is an ancient form of water torture involving alternating immersion in pans of ice water and hot water to shock the vessels into circulation. no fun at all :(
yep. the dress is a gift from aunt lotus that she got to wear after g'ma kay gave her a bath. next day she insisted on wearing it again so that's why she still has it on in the two photo dates. the bandaid is a sympathy one just because g'pa has one, the glasses belong to some old guy.
i was hoping for a return to work today but didn't get it. boss plenty disappointed/disgruntled and is putting me on workmen's comp. i think that pays like 2 bags of beans and 1 rice a week after 3 consecutive weeks.
my nurse has been over every day except sunday to check on me. the therapy is working as the swelling is down and i have some flexibility back. soon as the nurse clears me i can start putting some weight on the ankle. her concern is touching.
ooh! so sorry to come on and see u are in a state of misery. the treatments sound painful as well but if i had known about them after my fall down the stair, i may not have these hard blue indentions in my legs left over from the bruising that seem all to likely to live with me from now on. hope your better really soon and so glad it wasn't any worse. seems that sweet little doll is going to take good care of you so, love and get well soon.
i am much better, thanks. i am hobbling around a little today without the crutches, started practicing yesterday by just using them for a little support, tiresome but ok. the water torture really does work to reduce swelling & bruising. after having "football foot" for 5 days, i was surprised at the change from after the first day.
if you ever want the recipe here it is; enjoy!
CONTRAST BATH PERFORM TWICE A DAY:
HOT WATER FOR TWO MINUTES ICE WATER FOR 1 MINUTE
REPEAT 8 TIMES FOR A TOTAL OF 24 MINUTES. THE HOT WATER SHOULD BE AS HOT AS CAN BE TOLERATED AND THE ICE WATER ABOUT 1/2 WATER AND 1/2 ICE. ALWAYS END WITH ICE WATER.
i can assure you that counting to eight accurately is impossible, i resorted to making marks on paper. :0)
poot....back to work tomorrow, at least 1/2 day probably more. no doctors release yet as he is still on vacation and they changed my appt to thursday PM. called my boss & volunteered to go back anyway cause i need a heads up on happenings, so it's my own fault,....poot.
whoopee! i told that doctor about those baths and he said exactly that..."continue contrast baths", add a heavy rubber band and do ankle exercises. let you know how those go later. (i think he likes me).

haha.. to cute. i had a ladder collapse with me the other day..but i didn't earn the crutches.
Ouch! I'm glad you're okay! Kailani looks like she picked up some activities directing abilities from her Grandma Kay.
i would rather do without the crutches, and yep, she is always very entertaining.
this is a new form of physical therapy that i haven't seen before. lol!
awww. that's cute!
