deja vu

Kay loves the new paint, especially the way the green shows thru.

Everyone has heard me talk about the sage green wall I was after but didn't get, we bought walmart paint instead.
Some have heard me talk about wanting to do a Tuscan Orange focal wall as seen on HGTV.
Paint store guys don't watch HGTV, but do know how to furrow their eyebrows(they go to school for this, I think).
After a long fruitless hunt for the proper color, I walked into a Sherwin Williams store that had recently painted in a color that appealed to me... penny pincher orange.
The real name, Pennywise, a slightly copper colored reddish orange thats supposed to resemble old pennies. Hope your computers render it okay.

A definite multi-coat paint color.

I can tell Sparky is not convinced on the color...

Great job. Do you feel fulfilled now?

THe art works really well with it.

have to say, the door curtain is no match for the room. :) you should back it with something.

Whasa matter with the door curtain? It's not in this room.

Byron @ said...

Yes it does. Kay was at work when I decorated the wall and I am surprised she likes it enough to let me keep it up,
She has never been fond of my Goodwill find, and this is the first time I don't have to hide it in a back room.
It is a substitute for my plywood wall idea she scoffed at, and serves as fake flames.

On further inspection, the can says; "P5 Primer Recommended For This Color". You'd think the paint store guy would clue you in on this.
Something about the acrylic latex that paints differently from what I'm accustomed to. After that first funny coat, only a second was needed.

Thanks. Me and the paint store guy are proud :)

Those deep tone color paints require a gray primer. Fortunately for you the green paint over which ou painted had a probable gray base to it.

well i didn't want to come right out and say it's ugly.
but i see you have a nice sheer back up on this side of the door. :)

Yes. nacho2 said: "I usually move all of the furniture out first".
It was in that vein I removed the sheer.
While we may not be fond of the curtain, it is Curtis' room, and he put it up, so... I do like my boy.

Byron @ said...

ugly curtain. I declare! :)

Lydia Carroll said...

i like your boy too. :) those old pics i gave you of the drummer boy and the captain make a good fit for his room.

They are actually in his old room, along with some of his other things that we ran out of wall space for.
Do look good though.
