Would do this in a minute if I could find a timer that fits. New timer: $125, element: $50. Bi-metal(thermodisc) $12 + tax. Not worth the fix for a '96 model. I've temporarily shorted the element this evening so it can be used. Quite sure I've seen universal spring elements for restringing some where. I could, if pressed, add a manual timer.
Yes. First I changed the broken attic vent motor, then I cleaned the evap coil. Seems the previous owners changed the outside without changing the inside creating a mismatch.
ha. well in that case i think you got your monies worth outta that granddaddy. But you might find someone selling a good newer used one on graigs list or something.

and maybe a couple rotating attic vents which run about 40 bucks a piece, on the roof for added ventilation to keep the air from working so hard.
