what is, isn't

only old shot i could find on my hard drive.

remember these urns? they used to sit atop the Eola Hotel for the last 80 years or so. until today. we chopped them down like trees because they were deteriorating so badly they were becoming a hazard. contractors bid for removal; $3,500. our bid; sledgehammers and five gallon buckets. taking down six foot tall 1,500 lb urns on the coldest day we've had so far? priceless. i saved these pieces for i-don't-know-what-yet. sorry folks for no demolition pictures, i was out on a ledge. :o)

They should do nicely as yard ornaments

The ghosts of Eola will be after you.

There is always something a little sad about things like this. Too nostalgic...

yeah, it is. I tried to balk, hesitate, stall & protest to no avail about doing the job ourselves, even got a bid for repairing them in place or maybe having them reproduced if they would have taken them down in one piece. i confess it was me though that brought the hazard to their attention, a necessary evil.

I ain't a scared. I been doing battle with them for a few years now. The crying walls (room 221), the sympathetic 20 rooms (they all develop similar problems at the same time), elevators that refuse to budge when the house gets full, the domino effect. Once when the a/c circulating line exploded, and then the power went out, I said "what else can go wrong, the generator die?, and at that moment, it did. We've developed a mutual respect.

i'm so tired of hearing this line, she haunts everyone with it. it's getting to be a continual reverberating sound from the twilight zone. ignore her and give me what you want to and i'll start saying i got stuff from the salvage guy so you won't get in trouble. ;)

that reminds me i forgot to get that ceiling fan from charles and debbie's.

The guest in 505 came down to the front desk with one shoe on inquiring whether strange things or noises happened here. He had been in his room for about a half hour and couldn't find but one shoe. With some help from the MOD, they went up and located the shoe in the closet behind the ironing board that hangs on the wall. The man says he needs to rethink his theory about not believing in God or ghosts. This is one of the most common & aggravating of the mischiefs I contend with on at least a weekly basis. It's quite a game. Very funny...not.
