It is incredibly sad.

been there, many times.

and, among my students, i see so much of this every day. it's really the reason graduations can be so tearful ... some of those kids have all their hopes and dreams in the world hanging on that graduation, and i worry the economy being like it is, there won't be jobs out there for them, and after all the struggles, to have nothing waiting for them in the end. it's really sad.

they are still showing up week after week asking me to look at their resumes, correct them for them, what to say, what to write, where to look next, will i give a good reference....

so even tho you hate teachers, it has its rewards.

You know I was in jest. The greatest times of my life have been when I was teaching. The light coming on in someones eyes. The new directions they embark upon as a result. As you mentioned, the new, or renewed, hope they find. And perhaps at times, the sense of personal empowerment I also gained through the influence I had. The true teacher is a healer, and the Healer, medically or otherwise, is one closest to Christ emulatively.
My joy was greatest when folks took my teaching and changed their lives for the better: healed families, improved lifestyles, increased confidence for the future and improved personal self images - for them, a new birth.
No. I was teasing you again. I love teachers who impart value into peoples lives. And I love you.

Being a parent is a lot like that.
