that doo r needed changing five years ago. hope this deal works out for darrell. place already has appliances, altho nicki parker told me the freezer on that new fridge was full of meat when they turned the elec off. i never looked inside it but i'd hate to open it and find a mess. maybe they cleaned it out, but looking at the kitchen and the rest of the house, i wouldn't think so.
it's a nice house though and would be excellent for darrell so keeping my fingers crossed!
heh. that's the house next door to where mama and i lived on peach st. asked several times abt buying it but the three kids (only two now, the sister died) wouldn't even talk to one another, much less come to an agreement abt the house. maybe the two brothers will be smarter abt it all. who knows. if they accept a levens addition type arrangement, it'll still all be good. but will take a crew to clean that place up too. kay and i gave it a walk thru the weekend mama and i were moving in, so she knows what it looked like then.
i sent him several pictures of the interior for a gentle persuation. may or may not help. he is all for it even before the pictures but he has to talk with the brother and a neice, i think, that had previously asked about staying in the house but never followed thru. maybe the pictures will scare her away, they're pretty bad. the frige will have to be tossed. fridge
OMG! i hope you sent a pic of this fridge also. nikki told me it was a brand new fridge. i was only hoping they had cleaned it out but obviously not. that's gross. it'll have to be hauled off and you'll need gloves big time, maybe even oxygen masks!
rats have taken over that place and i noticed the back door blown open a time or two ... or left open. i just walked over and pulled it shut, but it looked like all get out with rat feces and dirty dishes. when kay and i walked thru it, there were still dirty towels in the bath floor. dunno if nikki bothered to pick them up when she was there later, the time i went over and talked to her. she was looking for car papers, she sd. anyway, the whole place was in desparate need of a clean up crew.
i'm sure the old guy staying there, the dad, was in much too poor health to take care of himself and the place. i wonder how long he was dead before they realized or if he was able to call someone.
anyway, it'll be a great place once it's cleaned up so hope they give darrell the go ahead. you guys already did major clean up in the yards!
heh. i sympathize with the old folks that lived there. the mother had Alzheimer's and her alcoholic daughter came and got her and she died while living with her dau down in baton rouge (i think BR). that left the dad alone who apparently was on a breathing machine and dying of something himself. he lived alone a couple of years before he kicked the bucket. i imagine the house kinda went down after his wife either got where she couldn't do any more or left to live with the dau.
in any case, the adult kids did not come in and clean up. as for the fridge, nikki (the adult dau) sd they were keeping the utils on until the elec started running above $250 a month and that with no one living in the house so nothing should have been on other than the fridge which was never opened. so they called and had the power disconnected and THAT's when they should have made a BIG effort to clean it out since they had not cleaned up previously.
the 3 kids (nikki and her two brothers, one lives in Dallas and the other in Jackson) were not really on speaking terms so it was next to impossible to get anything done. nikki apparently had TB or some such on top of her alcoholism (she put herself in for treatment but i don't know if it took) ... maybe it was just a heart attack. anyway, she died too so there is only the two boys left but they had never been to the house during the years me and mama lived next door and i doubt they had been at all since their folks died. the one in dallas sd he kept expecting nikki to move into the house but then she died and never did move back. it's just been sitting like it was when the old man died and the rats decided to move in.
we had rats on peach st too. they tried to move in every winter and i just had to keep poison for them in the hot water closet and attic and pray my kitties didn't eat any poisoned rats.
oh....yea thats what I was thinking! Sorry my bad! Still sick tho.....But mine is not perfect right now either ;) I dont have any science projects growing in it tho. ;)

Maybe someone should buy the house if it is going to be a family tradition....
