Grape St, from Here to There

Sisters have bold aspirations. In these photos you can follow along beginning to end (opps! nevermind) of ones bathroom makeover.
Also in this album, you can find glimpses of the master plumber, master carpenter, the journeyman electrician, mason&tile setter, drywall installer/finisher, general contractor, and stud. Double stud, that is.
No Sisters were harmed in the making of this documentary.

Are we pitiful or just smug? :)

Lydia Carroll said...

double stud, eh? . :)

Lydia Carroll said...

Just get worse and worse!

Lydia Carroll said...

How did you get this pic to make you look young and strong? :)

Lydia Carroll said...

Whew! FINALLY somethings starting to come together!

Lydia Carroll said...

Like the broom closet.

Lydia Carroll said...

Can't find the LIKE button to like on all the tools.

Lydia Carroll said...

LOL. Couldn't have found a more appropriate t-shirt, could you? . :)))

Lydia Carroll said...

Love the view!

Lydia Carroll said...

Love the glass block window.

Lydia Carroll said...

Like.

Lydia Carroll said...

all you need now is the river rock to separate the wood and tile floor.

Lydia Carroll said...

Sometimes its just a shame when you can do EVERYTHING. :)

Lydia Carroll said...

My plumbing won't near about be this scary; and no having to level my floors. I'm way ahead already!

Lydia Carroll said...

When our brothers die there won't be any more really smart guys left in the world. Not everyone is pro at `every single thing.

Byron @ said...

Smug but pitiful.

Byron @ said...

That's what it says

Byron @ said...

I'm always right, even when I'm wrong.

Byron @ said...

You would like it better now. Last thing today I added the side panel, shelf supports, and dowel rod coat hanger.
Earlier I shot level on the floor (laser), mudded all the walls, installed all the door frames, and discoursed on the various ways of tile installing.
That was my favorite.

Byron @ said...

No.

Byron @ said...

Yep, I know. Your job is ice cream, praise the Lord!

Byron @ said...

Right about now I'm thinking that's not so smart. People with no skills at all want to "friend" you.

Byron @ said...

Stupid invention here. (The quick pitch sticks)

Byron @ said...

Yep, I know. Your job is ice cream, praise the Lord!

Byron @ said...

That was my idea. The only 2 other good ideas I had so far were quitting and leaving.

Byron @ said...

I'm always right, even when I'm wrong.

Lydia Carroll said...

Ha. I bet it was.

Lydia Carroll said...

Did you show Lotus the pics!? :D

Lydia Carroll said...

yeah, I noticed that.

Byron @ said...

Nope, no way.

Lydia Carroll said...

uh, you recon? :)

Lydia Carroll said...

haha! What a shame.

Lydia Carroll said...

I dont know how that post got stuck in that previous reply. My computer went haywire for a minute and this is what happened. But it sounds like i'm saying what a shame that no sisters got harmed in the making. ha.

Byron @ said...

Miracles happen.

Lydia Carroll said...

Yes praise the Lord!!! But that was before you gave me an idea to move my toilet so it won't be facing the new open door to my bedroom. :) You said draw pics. so I'm drawing up one in my head for the toilet to be move to the bedroom wall, near the wall that gets closed in, and a bigger vanity is placed in the alcove that gets moved back into the other room. But the good part is, you don't have to move the tub_ UNLESS we can't figure out how to put in the tub kit with a door. :D

Lydia Carroll said...

I'm having aspirations and dreams once again.

Byron @ said...

Great minds think alike. Draw away. I had rethought this and wanted to move the toilet where the existing door is now behind the new door opening.
The door would shift toward the tub and stare at the vanity.

Lydia Carroll said...

yep! thats what im thinking. But just flip the back of the toilet toward the bedroom so big-foot don't step on my feet coming in, when im sitting on the pot.

Byron @ said...

lol

We are amazed at the work. Not only how beautiful it is going to be but also the amount of work you have put in your sister's home. God bless you Byron. Dan and I are sorry that I got sick and we couldn't be there to help you.
I sure wish I had a handyman brother. :)

Lotus Dale said...

My missing jack! Left under the house from my last bout of house-leveling! OMG! Those blocks were hard for me to stack under there! Can't describe how my arms and shoulders were complaining. But then again, I couldn't even manage this much when the steroids ran out!

We'll let you come operate that shop vac any time you like. :)))

Lotus Dale said...

He makes sure I snap all the pics so it will look like HE does ALL the work. :))) lol How do you like that plumbing highway under the house? Plumbing wins the most-hated job, I think. I don't know anyone who likes plumbing outside of Maurice Bell's family (and sons).

Lotus Dale said...

How do you like that curvilinear floor? Part wood flooring, and part tile...

Lydia Carroll said...

Well if you woulda had several Jacks you coulda left them all under the house and not messed around with those heavy blocks. You've got a lot more 'back' than I've got that's for sure. I can't lift that well anymore.

Lydia Carroll said...

plumbing infrastructure!

Dan's old sawhorses came in handy!

Lydia Carroll said...

Having one when you spill a whole bucket of mud water, is far better than not having one, i assure you.

Too much work. After rising every weekday morning at 3:00 AM I thought I couldn't feel any more tired than I do. Then I looked at all these photos and I was suddenly infinitely more tired . . .
You are doing a fantastic job. It will be a suitable retreat when you are done. I can hardly wait for more photos of the progress and the finish.
When it is complete Byron should do like the plumber on the TV commercial and be the first to take a shower in it.

Now that river rock border . . . I know, I know - NO.

Byron @ said...

No kidding. That floor repair job goes on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, etc.

:) nice!

Lydia Carroll said...

uh huh. :)

Lotus Dale said...

and the job goes on and on and on .... sigh. Did multiply tell us how to download our photo albums before they delete them? I'd hate to lose all those photos of mamabird that are stored on this website. I don't have internet at home, so I hope they don't delete before I can get back to them.

Lotus Dale said...

backerboard scorer. nice little tool. handy and helpful!

Lotus Dale said...

I gave viola these blinds and more to match. so glad to unload more 'stuff' on someone! that's a claustrophobic room there ... thought i'd never see the day when i didn't have to live with it! much appreciation to byron for many hours and days of hard labor helping to cure some of the ills.

Lotus Dale said...

so that's where i lost my jack!

Lotus Dale said...

my arms (read: steroids) gave out before I could finish leveling the bath. still deluded into thinking one of these days i'll finish that job! fortunately the problem with my arms is 'recurring' and not something that i have to live with 12 months out of the year. maybe in a good month, when i have whittled my list down some, i'll actually have noting better to do than to level my house! haha

Lotus Dale said...

me either ... can't lift that well any more. the steroids deluded me but they are all gone now. no wonder athletes take them! lol

Charles Cirilo said...

A whole lotta work, no doubt.

Dec 1st is when Multiply turns off the network other than E-commerce.
They will inform us beforehand and provide an option to download and save, or transfer to another social network, or just let it delete and be lost.

As for me, probably the end of this sort of thing for me, as I absolutely despise Facebook and the like. I won't ever invest the time or energy I once did to try and stay in touch online with photos and news. None of the other formats that ".. can do this better than we can do . . ." (FB) can ever do it as well as I believe Facebook has done.

I realize nearly all the momentum for our staying in touch was taken away by everyone migrating to FacePuke, or is it ButtBook, anyhow, but I never found that one useful. I can simply open my home page here and go all the way back to 2004 to read posts, see photos, review blogs, and revisit all of what we once shared. Good luck doing that on ButtHook. Hopefully everyone has my mailing address.

Byron @ said...

Sad, too sad. I don't know if your hi-res originals are there without being premium (I can check on that) but you already have the option of downloading any or all of your pictures that you have shared here in your "Media Locker". A huge task, I know, for all you busy folks just trying to get on with your lives, but thought I'd mention it anyway.
Here is another option: http://tejasmidget.weebly.com/index.html As you can see, it is doable to download & transfer...sigh. And it has FB interaction I think.

Charles Cirilo said...

I may try that.

Lotus Dale said...

Multiply's inbox was their strong point, and AFAIK, none of the other sites do that anywhere close to as well. I really hate losing all the history abt mama, but I see that coming as I sincerely doubt multiply gives us a smooth transition. Thelink Byron posted to an alternative method of migrating our stuff didn't take me to anything useful for grabbing multiply posts or albums. Did it work for you?

Charles Cirilo said...

Nope. After I installed it my PC crashed. I have been reinstalling the OS this morning.
I figured out I had two anti-virus programs installed. They fought it out and I lost.

Charles Cirilo said...

For an anti-virus?

Byron @ said...

yep. It works for me, I install it on all my windows machines, and any at work I take care of.

@Byron - Where are you displaying the newest pics of the renovation? I wanted to see the last few you took this week after installing the vanity. It's shaping up so nicely! There really aren't words to express how deeply I appreciate your investment in this. A simple thank you imbued with love will have to suffice. xox

Byron @ said...

9:30 pm. I just got home... again. I haven't posted them yet, will do soon.

Charles Cirilo said...

Debby and I are wondering where this project is right now.
If you have posted photos beyond the July 17 date we'd like a link to them. It would seem futile to post them here.

If you've no place, a photobucket free online album/storage site could be used until later, or forever . . .

Byron @ said...

The only pictures are on FB. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.516452891704970.138081.100000207900932&type=1
There was a lot more done after this, but no pics that I am aware of. I completed the change order for crown in the hallway and living room yesterday,
and wanted to install the shower tile today but did not. Tentative completion date of December, but without me I'm afraid, I'm done.
