blind justice

Shoes and trousers lie in a mass grave site being excavated in Hatra, northern Iraq, Tuesday, Oct 12, 2004. Europeans skilled at excavating mass graves are reluctant to join the search for victims of Saddam Hussein's regime because the former dictator could face the death penalty for crimes committed during his rule, according to Greg Kehoe, an American human rights lawyer who is working with the Iraqi Special Tribunal.

Not only is this very sad, but although I do not favor the death penalty, if these Europeans are unwilling to do their jobs because of the death penalty then I pity them (the Europeans). Regardless of the outcome of the exhumation, the dead deserve to be given the recognition that restores to them the dignity Saddam took from them. This represents the mindlessness with which too many look at things. While I agree with them on the one point I would want no one to associate me with their mindless stupidity. Everything is always bigger than our personal perspective where governments are concerned. Furthermore, the only suffering the Europeans endure is that of weeping into their teacups if Saddam is executed. Nothing compared to the suffering of the dead, their families, and the nation.

wow. that's horrible. and to think rhis kind of stuff has went on for centuries. and is even going on in africa right now.

amazing how humans can do this to animals, much less each other.

incredibly sad.

I am conflicted over the whole idea of execution, even for issues like this (read people like sadaam). Oddly enough, however, I have no issues with assasination.

Well, then, let's get the Israelis to assasinate him

No. I think we need to come out of the murder closet and do our own assinations. Just make the middle east situation worse by bringing the Isrealis into it.

I suppose your right. Since we have now come out of the terrorist attacking the USA closet it should be okay. We can't be anymore attacked or hated than what we are now. BTW, I do like to be liked, nevertheless, if someone can't seem to live without hating me, I don't care. Same for the nation, imho.

Yes. But is does seem odd to go passing around the "Hate Me" petition yourself.

My position on that is simple.
"If someone is talking about me, it is either good or a lie."
They can help themselves. Whatever turns their crank. That goes for my country, too.
